Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom soundtrack due out 21st May

Wes Anderson is a certainly an alternative sort of director when it comes to soundtracks, having previously worked with the likes of Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo) and featured tracks from The Kinks, Nico, Nick Drake and David Bowie (covered excellently by Seu Jorge). So, it's interesting to see the somewhat classical direction his new soundtrack is taking...

Moonrise Kingdom is the new movie, premiering May 25th in the UK, featuring a stellar cast of Bruce Willis, Ed Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Frances Mcdormand, Bill Murray (of course) and a couple of relative unknowns as the child leads, in a tale of young lovers in a New England town.

The soundtrack is due May 21st and will feature classical music from composers such as Benjamin Britten and compositions played by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. As well as these classic masterworks, Hank Williams, Francoise Hardy and Alexandre Desplat will be making contributions. Check out the full tracklisting below.
